uninteresting in ‘The School Boy’?
Ans: In school, the boy has no joy of learning. He finds everything dull. He
wants to be free as a bird and be in the company of nature. But the school does
not allow this to happen. There are strict teachers who deal with children in
an authoritarian manner. Children are made to study books which they find
uninteresting. That is why the boy considers the school a cage. Just as a bird
that wants to be free and soar high, singing and flapping its wings, the
schoolboy desires for freedom from school. But just as the bird is caged, the
schoolboy is compelled to be in school and just as a caged bird cannot sing,
the schoolboy can have no sense of joy and remains in school with his wing
drooping.
15) Comment on the collective money madness
as described in the poem ‘Money Madness’.
Ans: There
are aches and quakes each time an individual needs to part with one pound or
ten pounds. In any case, an individual can't be considered exclusively
answerable for the evil of cash mindedness. He can't get away from the negative
effect of the framework which is cash focused. At the point when cash is
required in any event, for essential necessities of life, he can't state that
he will stay liberated from cash mindedness. His entire life is a battle to
bring in enough cash to get by. He realizes that without cash he stops to be a
substance for other people. His fear is being forced to bear good cause that
would strip him of all respect. He realizes that some bread would be tossed at
him to keep him alive, yet it would be done so derisively that it is equivalent
to eating soil. Aggregate frenzy for cash influences an individual since he
also has a lot of blame in giving a lot of significant worth for cash. This is
obvious from the way that no individual can leave behind cash with serenity of
heart.
16) How does the farmer’s wife bring out the
firm determination of the woman to survive?
Ans: The woman points out that meeting one’s
end is over in a moment. It’s not a long struggle. But the struggle in life,
for life to sustain and continue, is a long struggle, full of perils. For this,
one needs a brave heart. Only the one with a firm heart will analyse the
difficult situation. Yet he should never lose his reasoning ability and the
determination to fight his misfortune. Otherwise, his children would become
orphans. That is why the farmer’s wife asserts that she would continue to
live, to teach her children how to live. She wants to instil in her children
the fighting spirit which her husband lacked. That is why she says that she
would continue to be alive to teach her children to fight with a clenched fist
for not only the basic need of food but also more important things, attaining
which might be nothing less than a battle. For this, she pledges to embrace
life and not death, though life would present a long and painful struggle.

first introduced in the poem as she is begging for money from a
pilgrim. She is described as being "old and wrinkled" with

temple, even though he is much younger and stronger than she is.
And

hut to protect it from the rain. But, the elephant exploits the goodness of the
man and throws him out of the hut. When the wronged man starts arguing with the
elephant, the confusion attracts many animals from the nearby jungle, including
The Lion King who is displeased that the peace of his jungle is disturbed by
the misunderstanding between the man and the elephant.
On hearing the heated argument between
the man and the elephant, the lion came roaring and made enquiries. The
elephant told the lion that he had occupied the empty space in the man's hut
only to save him from being blown away by the hurricane. The lion got a
Commission of Enquiry appointed to examine their dispute
19) How was Krishna cured of his piles in
“Around A Medicinal Creeper”?

piles problem. Krishna had piles issue and the main remedy for it in allopathy
was medical procedure. Krishna, an ignorant, was unnerved by medical procedure

restaurant was that the narrator went to a restaurant to have his food and when
he needed to take care of the bill of eleven annas. However, the owner felt
that the speaker was attempting to swindle him, and took steps to gouge his
eyes out. None of the others at the eatery appear to have any generosity
either. The narrator begged owner to keep his jacket as guarantee and the owner
laughed asked off his jacket, shirt, and shoes. At the point when he needs the
speaker to eliminate even the pants, the speaker begs him for leniency saying
he has nothing inside. This just summons more chuckling and the café
proprietor, alongside fifty others assembled there, powers the speaker to strip
further saying jokingly, "There must be something inside." The
speaker, presently surrendered to his destiny, begins unfastening his pants,
constantly envisioning himself standing stripped before others, with his eyes
gouged out. We see that the storyteller isn't just humiliated yet additionally
embarrassed. Since he isn't a cheat, it probably been horribly humiliating for
him to have understood that he had eaten his food at the cafe; however had no
cash to pay for the food. His humiliation would have expanded when the
proprietor of the cafe regarded him as a cheat.
21) Give an account of Babar Ali’s initiative
to start and develop the school for underprivileged.

circumstance which, he felt, was unjustifiable. Despite the fact that Ali
originated from a little town – Murshidabad, he had a fantasy and he ran after
understanding that fantasy. The fantasy, be that as it may, was not for
individual satisfaction. As referenced in the exercise, his adventure is
verification to the truism that one individual can have any kind of effect on
the off chance that he is propelled by a powerful urge. Ali had the benefit of
being taught on account of his dad's remain on instruction. Yet, not all the
youngsters in the town had a similar bit of leeway. That is the reason,
subsequent to going to his school in the first part of the day; Ali began
taking classes for the uneducated children of the town in the terrace of his
home. It was, rather, for the improvement of youngsters around him.
22) What kind of hardships did the slaves
suffer at the hands of the slave holder?
Ans: The
slaves suffered at the hands of the slaveholder and his mistress as the
mistress consistently criticized the slaves, especially the mulatto kids, and
guaranteed that they went under the lash. At whatever point she associated her
better half with indicating additional courtesies to his mulatto kids which he
retained from other dark slaves, her resentment was much more and she
constrained her significant other to sell this class of slaves. Hence we see
that the slaves endured insufferable difficulties because of the slaveholder
and his courtesan, and if the ace turned out to be the dad of the slave, the
predicament of such a slave was much more terrible. In the event that he didn't,
the ace needed to whip such slaves himself or see one of his children tie up
and beat up his sibling.

and Jacopo Gentlemen of Verona?

Nicola work enormously and thoroughly. They sparkle shoes, sell papers, gotten
things done and show visitors round the city. They take just figs and dark tea
as food. They spare each penny for the clinical treatment of their sister Lucia
who is experiencing Tuberculosis of the spine. The storyteller himself concedes
that their ability to work intrigued him. They show an abnormal dedication to
their work. The goal of their difficult work and reason behind their
half-starved every day schedule isn't known to numerous in Verona. Anybody may
clean shoes or falcon papers however it is the generosity of heart and
nobleness of direction that really decides if one is a genuine courteous fellow
or a faker. Thus the title ''Two refined men of Verona" is supported.
III. Answer ANY ONE of the following in about
200 words: 1x6=6
24) Mara sacrifices his life for the village
in “Watchman of the Lake”. Prove.
Ans: In the play “Watchman of the Lake”, Mara is the watchman
of the lake who is given the responsibility of guarding the lake by the goddess
who appears in his dreams. Mara's duty is to ensure that no harm comes to
the lake or its inhabitants.
In the play, Mara is shown to be a very pious and
faithful person. He has a great sense of humor, is intelligent and
resourceful, and has concern for the people and the welfare of the
Kingdom. He takes pride in his job as the watchman of the lake and is very
strict with those who violate the rules and harm the environment.

The poem ‘If I was a Tree’ brings out
nature’s acceptance of all its creatures as a contrast to man’s rejection of
his own kind. Elucidate.
Ans: The poem ‘If I was a Tree’ places before the readers an
age-old custom of discrimination practiced in India. The poem satirizes the
idea of defilement and purification. The unasked but implied question in the
poem is about the defilement of the mind. The poem implies that the ones who
practice caste system go against God’s design. In the different creations of
God, there is not a single creature that is considered superior to other
creations. It is clear from the poem that the speaker has suffered the bane of
discrimination in human society. His statement that if he were a tree, no bird
would ask him what caste he was, makes it clear that the speaker is made to
feel ashamed of his caste repeatedly. When he states that the shadow of the
tree which is formed on the ground when the sunlight falls on it, wouldn’t
feel defiled, it is clear that people keep him at a distance and do not allow
even his shadow to come in their way as he and his shadow are considered
impure. When he talks about the sweet friendship with the coolly breeze and
leaves, it is crystal clear that in society not many extend to him their hands
of friendship. It could even be a mockery of the upper caste people who worship
thousands of gods but have no respect for their brethren. Finally, when the
speaker says that if he is a tree he would have the privilege of being burnt in
the holy fire or becoming the bier, it is clear that as a human being, he knows
that he would be shunned even after death and wouldn’t be allowed a decent
death. Thus, as a human being, in life and death, he would be condemned, but as
a tree, he would live a life of dignity and joy. Thus the speaker makes it
clear that instead of being born as a human being in a society which practices
discrimination, it is better to be born as a tree or any other creature in
nature, as in nature there is no discrimination.
