Describe Kalam's student life.

had a simple and disciplined student life. He was born in a poor family at
Rameswaram, but he never allowed poverty to stop his education. He was
hardworking, honest, and eager to learn new things. He studied at Schwartz
Higher Secondary School and later joined St. Joseph's College. After completing
his degree, he entered the Madras Institute of Technology to study aeronautical
engineering. Kalam showed great interest in science and mathematics. He spent
many hours reading books and learning from his teachers. He respected his
teachers and followed their advice sincerely. His family made many sacrifices
to support his education. Kalam believed that knowledge, hard work, and
determination were the keys to success. His student life teaches us that
dedication, discipline, and a strong desire to learn can help anyone achieve
great success despite difficulties.
b)
Write a note on Nandi Project.
Ans: The
Nandi Project was one of the first important projects in the career of A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. It was developed at the
Aeronautical Development Establishment in Bengaluru. The aim of the project was
to design and build a small hovercraft named "Nandi." A hovercraft is
a vehicle that moves on a cushion of air and can travel over land and water.
Kalam worked as the project leader and guided his team with great enthusiasm.
Although the project faced many technical and financial challenges, the team
successfully built a working model. The hovercraft impressed many scientists
and officials. Even though the project was not continued later, it gave Kalam
valuable experience in research, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving. The
Nandi Project became an important stepping stone in his scientific career and
prepared him for greater achievements in India's space and missile programmes.
c)
Sketch the character of Jainulabdeen.
Ans: Jainulabdeen was the father
of A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. He was a simple,
honest, and deeply religious man. Though he was not highly educated, he
possessed great wisdom and strong moral values. He earned his living by owning
boats that carried pilgrims between Rameswaram and Dhanushkodi. He lived a life
of hard work, discipline, and contentment. Jainulabdeen believed in kindness,
humility, and helping others without expecting anything in return. People
respected him because of his good character and peaceful nature. He taught
Kalam the importance of faith, honesty, self-confidence, and service to
humanity. He encouraged his son to work hard and remain humble even after

Ans: Wings of Fire is the autobiography of A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. It is not just a story
about his life, but a great source of inspiration for students and young
people. The book tells us how a poor boy from Rameswaram became one of India's
greatest scientists and later the President of India. His journey teaches us that
success comes through hard work, discipline, determination, and honesty.
Kalam faced many difficulties
during his childhood. His family was not rich, so he sold newspapers to support
his education. Even though life was difficult, he never gave up his dream. He
studied sincerely and always respected his teachers. Their guidance helped him
become a successful scientist.
The book also explains Kalam's
work in India's space and missile programmes. He worked on important projects
like SLV-3, Nandi, Agni, and Prithvi. Although he experienced failures, he

Kalam as a Missile Man of India. Elaborate.
Ans:
A. P. J. Abdul Kalam is proudly known as
the Missile Man of India because of his outstanding
contribution to India's missile and defence programmes. His hard work,
scientific knowledge, and leadership made India strong in defence technology
and earned him great respect across the world.
After completing his studies in
aeronautical engineering, Kalam joined India's space and defence research
organisations. He first worked at DRDO and later at ISRO. He played a key role
in developing the SLV-3, India's first Satellite Launch Vehicle, which
successfully placed the Rohini satellite into space. This success gave India
confidence in space technology.
Later, Kalam returned to DRDO
and became the leader of the Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme.
Under his leadership, India successfully developed important missiles such as
Agni, Prithvi, Akash, Trishul, and Nag. These achievements strengthened the
country's defence system and made India more self-reliant.
Kalam always encouraged
teamwork and believed that success comes through dedication and continuous
learning. He accepted failures with courage and motivated his team to work
harder. His leadership qualities and positive attitude inspired many
scientists.
Apart from being a great
scientist, Kalam was a humble and simple person. He loved students and

Summarize the poem "Invictus".
Ans:
Invictus is a powerful poem written by William Ernest Henley. The poem speaks about
courage, hope, confidence, and determination. The poet says that life is full
of difficulties, pain, and challenges, but we should never lose hope. We must
remain brave and strong in every situation.
The poet believes that no
matter how hard life becomes, we should not give up. Instead, we should face
every problem with confidence and self-belief. The famous lines, "I am the
master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul," show that every person is
responsible for shaping his or her own future.
The poem teaches us to stay
positive during difficult times and never allow fear or failure to defeat us.

Write a brief note on the poem "My Last Duchess".

My Last Duchess is a famous dramatic
monologue written by Robert Browning. In
the poem, the Duke of Ferrara proudly shows a visitor the portrait of his late
wife, the Duchess. While talking about her, he reveals his proud, jealous, and controlling
nature.
The Duchess was kind, cheerful,
and friendly to everyone. She appreciated simple gifts and smiled at all people
equally. The Duke did not like her behaviour because he wanted her to admire
only him. He felt that his high position deserved special respect.
The Duke finally says that he
"gave commands," which suggests that he was responsible for her

power. Through the Duke's speech, Browning shows how selfishness and arrogance

Write a note on Shashi Throor's ideas on Education.

Ans: A Pecha Kucha
presentation is a simple and interesting style of presentation. It was
created in Japan to make presentations short, clear, and attractive. In this
method, the speaker shows 20 slides, and each slide is
displayed for 20 seconds. The total presentation time is 6
minutes and 40 seconds.
A Pecha Kucha presentation has
different stages. The first stage is selecting a suitable
topic and collecting useful information. The second stage is
preparing simple and meaningful slides with pictures instead of too much text.
The third stage is organizing the ideas in the correct order.
The fourth stage is practising the presentation several times
to match the timing of each slide. The final stage is
delivering the presentation confidently with clear speech, good body language,
and eye contact.
This method improves
communication skills, time management, confidence, and creativity. It helps the
audience understand the topic easily and keeps them interested throughout the
presentation.

as important as speaking. Participants should respect others' opinions and

Ans: My Travel Experience to Mysuru
Last
year, I visited Mysuru with my family during the summer holidays. It was
one of the most enjoyable trips of my life. We travelled by train and reached
the city early in the morning.
The
first place we visited was the beautiful Mysore Palace. The palace
looked grand with its beautiful architecture and colourful lights. We also
visited the Brindavan Gardens, where we enjoyed the musical fountain
and colourful flowers. The peaceful atmosphere made the visit memorable.
We
tasted delicious Mysuru Pak and other local foods. The people were friendly and
helpful. I also learned about the rich history and culture of Mysuru.
This
journey gave me happiness, knowledge, and many beautiful memories. It taught me
the importance of travelling, learning about new places, and spending quality
time with family. I will always remember this wonderful trip and hope to visit
Mysuru again in the future.
