II. a) Discuss Ritesh Agarwal as a successful businessman (1x10=10)
Ans: Ritesh
Agarwal, the young founder of OYO, qualifies as a successful businessman. OYO,
under Agarwal's leadership, became the world's largest budget hotel chain. They
started by offering standardized budget-friendly rooms and grew to encompass a
wider range of accommodations under the OYO Hotels & Homes brand. This
massive reach extends across 80 countries [NAS Academy, OYO Founder & CEO
Ritesh Agarwal's Life Story].
OYO's core concept is innovative. By partnering with existing budget
hotels instead of owning properties, they were able to rapidly scale while
offering a consistent experience This asset-light model disrupted the
traditional hotel industry [The CEO Magazine, Ritesh Agarwal Success story |
Founder & CEO, OYO]. Agarwal's accomplishments garnered recognition early
on. He was featured in Forbes "30 Under 30" list and received awards
like the Business World Young Entrepreneur Award [NAS Academy, OYO Founder
& CEO Ritesh Agarwal's Life Story].
It's important to note that Agarwal's journey wasn't all smooth sailing.
The COVID-19 pandemic impacted OYO significantly. Despite this setback, Agarwal
remains at the helm and continues to steer the company forward [Fino wings,
Ritesh Agarwal Journey: CEO of India's Biggest Hotel Chain OYO]. While his net
worth has seen some fluctuation, his entrepreneurial spirit and the reach of
OYO solidify his status as a successful businessman.

b) Explain the conversation between narrator and Todd
Ans:The narrator and Todd have a conversation
about Bermuda and the narrator tries to indirectly remind Todd that he
owes him a dollar. The narrator asks Todd about the currency used in
Bermuda and the cost of his trip, and suggests hiring a taxi to Montreal to
remind Todd of the dollar he used for a taxi ride to Bermuda. However,
Todd does not get the hint and suggests they walk instead. The narrator
spends the rest of the evening talking about Bermuda, but does not explicitly
ask Todd for the dollar. The narrator feels that Todd has forgotten about
the debt because he behaves as if nothing has happened and meets him in the
same friendly way. The narrator says he knows he will not get the dollar
back, but it will not affect their friendship.
The narrator is trying to remind Todd about a
dollar he borrowed, likely from an earlier encounter. The narrator might be
hesitant to directly ask for the money back. They might bring up a shared
experience, like a recent trip Todd took (possibly the Bermuda trip you
mentioned), hoping Todd will recall borrowing the money during that time. The
narrator's goal is to nudge Todd's memory and subtly prompt him to repay the
debt. The conversation might not be about a literal dollar, but a metaphorical
one. Perhaps Todd did something in the past that the narrator feels he owes
them for (a favor, a missed opportunity, etc.). The narrator might be bringing
up past events or their current situation to hint at this larger debt. Their
goal could be to make Todd acknowledge the situation or even apologize.
III. a) What is the spiritual philosophy in Vachana 820?
Explain. (1x10=10)
Ans: In this poem, Basavanna tells us that a rich man can afford
to build grand temples in honour of gods, but poor man cannot. However, with
his devotion, i.e., with pure thoughts, actions, and deeds, he can turn his
body into a temple. He may offer his legs for pillars, his body fora shrine,
and his head for a cupola. A temple of faith is immortal as human beings live
on generation after generation, but a temple of stone will perish sooner or
later. With this analogy, the lyricist is telling us that faith in the heart is
more important than cold stone structures dedicated to a God. To him true faith
is more important than display of wealth by the rich who put up such
structures.
