1) In the first three lines the poet speaks of two things. What are they?
Ans: Iceberg and smart ship are the two things in the first three lines the poet speaks about.

 

2) The poet uses the word “grew” twice, what does he mean in each case?
Ans:  The poet says about the huge ship which raises its stature and eminence and in second instance nature raises its elevation.

 

3) What does he say about the ship’s qualities?
Ans: The poet says that the ship is huge and great in its height which delivers its beauty and its color tone attracts too.

 

4) What is mysterious and fearful? What phrase expresses this idea?
Ans: Iceberg is mysterious and fearful, here it has been growing in hidden and mysterious way and that has created the reader should feel something mysterious and fearful. The phrase is “In shadowy silent distance grew the iceberg too”.

 

5) In what way are the ship and the iceberg “alien”?
Ans: The ship and the iceberg have been compared as alien. One side human being has built the ship similarly another side nature has grown the iceberg in close joining. No one could foretell the story of their fates.

 

6) When you are playing with a top, you spin it and make it spin on the floor. The force of spinning also makes it go round and round in a circle. Now, our earth also does the same. It goes round and round the sun, spinning. So, who is “The Spinner of the years”?

7) Two things became historical facts in navigation. What were they?
Ans: The two became historical facts in navigation as one of them was manmade huge ship on another side nature made iceberg. As the ship was built in such way that it wouldn’t sink but in front of nature man was minor that it couldn’t stand in front of iceberg.

 

8) The Atlantic Ocean is vast. The titanic and the iceberg are mere splash in it. Yet, one obstructs the other in its course. There was a head-on collision. This was an amazing event. (Supply the missing words)

 

9) The iceberg and the ship were alien. They were like the two hemispheres. Explain what this means.
Ans: Here it implies they are unique in relation to each other one is common and the other one is fake, man-made, as to be something contrary to each other. They resembled twin halves of the globe, that human pride was broken when the boat sank. The twin halves would allude to either side of the world. The different sides are deliberately made by the secretive maker and they have since the time been approaching their definitive conflict. They will be two parts of the misfortune. They are twin parts of one august function.

 

10) The event that brought death and destruction was like play to someone. Which two lines say so?
Ans:  The two lines are: “Till the Spinner of the Years

                                      Said “Now!” and each one hears.”
