i) Answer in one or two sentences each.

1) Who narrated Berunda’s story to whom?
Ans: Suvanasiddhi narrated Berunda’s story to his friend Chakradhara.

 

2) Where did the big strange bird live?
Ans: Berunda, the big strange bird live on the banks of a lake called Sangama.

 

3) What did the bird find one day?
Ans: The bird found a fruit one day, which was delicious as ambrosia.

 

4) How did the first head describe the fruit?
Ans: The first head described that the fruit had been sent from the heavens for him and he felt so lucky for getting it.

 

5) What did the first head decide to do with the fruit?
Ans: The first head decided to give fruit to their beloved wife Tatillatha.

 

6) How did the second head react to the first head’s decision?
Ans: The second head was disappointed on the first head’s decision, and he waiting for a change to take revenge. The second head found a poisonous fruit and he ate it to take revenge from first head and both of them died due to foolishness of the second head.

1) Describe Berunda.
Ans: On the banks of a lake called Sangama lived a big strange bird, Berunda. That bird had two heads and single body. Berunda’s wife was Tatillatha. It was very much unusual bird with extreme power but two heads didn’t have same sought of opinion on any issue.

 

2) Describe the first head’s decision.
Ans: One day Berunda was wandering on the banks of the lake, the first head found a fruit, which was delicious as ambrosia and he said that he was so lucky to get that fruit from heavens it was sent for him. The first head decided to give that fruit to his wife but the second head was disappointed at what the first head did. He was waiting for a chance to take revenge.

 

3) Why was the second head disappointed at the first head’s decision?
Ans:  The first head found a fruit and he decided to give that fruit to his wife but the second head was disappointed at what the first head did as the second head thought to taste the fruit. He was waiting for a chance to take revenge.

 

4) How did the second head have its revenge?
Ans: The second head found a poisonous fruit on a particular day, he told the first head that he would eat that poisonous fruit to take revenge for his insult. The first head tried to stop him but the second head ate poisonous fruit and both of them died due to the foolishness of the second head.

 

5) What advice did Chakradhara give Suvamasiddhi?
Ans: It is essential to have a travel companion while travelling was the advice Chakradhara gave Survamasiddhi.

 

6) Who was Brahmadatta? What was his mother’s advice to him?
Ans: Brahmaddatta was a small boy who lived with his old mother in a city called Varanavarta. Bhramadatta planned to travel to a village on urgent business. His mother advised him not to travel alone and asked him take a companion while travelling.

Ans: Brahmadatta halted and took rest under a big tree after his summer day’s journey. A snake emerged from the hollow of tree where he was resting. The snake was attracted by the camphor fragrance and it swallowed the box. The crab came out of the box and killed the snake. The boy woke up to find the dead snake and the open camphor box where he saw the crab was alive and he was saved by his companion.
