Ans: Romeo
commends Juliet's beauty saying that her beauty was splendid to the point that
it could move a torch to burn all the more brilliantly implying that even
torchlight appears to be pale compared with Juliet's beauty. He lets us know
that her beauty was like dusk, delicate and brilliant, and sparkles very much
like a sparkling jewel worn by a dark-skinned woman, an Ethiopian lady. Her
beauty as indicated by Romeo was invaluable and excessively rich for use and
very expensive for humans, implying that everyone can't bear to have a beauty
like Juliet. A white pigeon amidst black crows can be admired easily;
similarly, Juliet was more gorgeous than the wide range of other beautiful
ladies.
18) How does the narrator describe the 'Toy kingdom' in,
Too Dear’?
Ans: The tiny little called Monaco lies close to
the lines of France and Italy. There are somewhere around 7,000 inhabitants in
it. The kingdom is so small to the point that assuming all the land in the
kingdom were divided among its inhabitants, there wouldn't be even an acre of
land of land for every occupant. In any case, this toy kingdom has a real
kinglet and like some other real lord, the kinglet lives in a palace with
courtiers, ministers, a bishop, generals and a small army of just sixty men on
the whole. The ruler lives by gathering taxes from individuals, on tobacco,
wine and spirits and a poll tax. Furthermore, the king also got a huge amount
of money from gaming housekeeper.
19) What do the Metaphor bows and arrows signify with
regard to parent-children relationship? Discuss.
Ans: In this metaphor, God, or the supreme power,
is the archer, parents are the bows and the arrows are the children. The archer
utilizes the bow just as an instrument to send the arrows to their target. The
archer concludes the direction and the target on the limitless way and pulls
the string energetically. As he pulls the string, the bow needs to twist but
endure the strain and tension caused in shooting the arrow. The bow shouldn't
snap in two. From this metaphor obviously parents serve just as an instrument
or as a vehicle to help the arrow fly to its destination and parents can't
possess them.
20) Bring out the importance of Earth Democracy, as Vandana
Shiva states.
Ans: As per the author, Earth
University teaches Earth Democracy, which guarantees freedom for all species to
develop inside the web of life. It also presents freedom and responsibility on
people, as individuals from the Earth family, to perceive, secure and respect

anthropocentrism to eco-centrism. Earth Democracy interprets into human rights
to food and water, to freedom from hunger and thirst.
21) Describe the circumstances leading to Gonzalo's
separation from Laura.
Ans: The youth Laura Llorente and
youth Gonzalo loved each other sincerely. Constantly while passing by riding a
horse down the rose path under the window of Laura, Gonzalo used to toss up her
balcony a bouquet of flowers. Later in the early evening, while the brave young
fellow was returning by a similar path, he would catch the bouquet of roses she
would throw him. As days moved by, Laura's parents considered wedding her to a
notable merchant in their locality. One evening, while Gonzalo was holding up
under her window to hear her sing, the merchant came there suddenly and
offended him. This prompted a quarrel and later a duel. The duel went in
general evening and at the crack of dawn the following morning the merchant got
seriously injured in the duel. The merchant was a notable man of honor in
Valencia. Since he had been seriously injured in the duel, Gonzalo became
uncertain of unfortunate results thus escaped Valencia and went to Seville and
afterward to Madrid.
22) Write about Basavaiah's cruelty and meanness as
brought in 'The Gardener' lesson.
Ans: Basavaiah couldn't do the
same way. He attempted to show his competition in doing agricultural tasks all
the more tirelessly, yet that was also in vain. In the mean time, Tammanna's
reputation began spreading all over. His songs began talking about Basavaiah's
mercilessness and his cruelty. Scholars and critics went his songs and earned
their share of fame. Basavaiah became desperate and furious and fought back by
infringing on increasingly more of Tammanna's property.
23) How does the foot become imprisoned in the shoe in
`To the foot from its child'?
Ans: The child's "foot" is born into the
world without the consciousness of being a butterfly or an apple, however as
the child progresses in years and encounters life's difficulties, for example,
strolling on glass fragments and ladders, and harsh landscape, the foot
understands that it is just a foot and starts to wear a "shoe" to
safeguard itself. Nonetheless, the "Foot" feels crushed and is
ill-fated to live in a shoe.
24) 'People respect each others privacy'. Explain with reference
to Japan in Mikes Travel writing.
Ans: A quarter of an hour in Japan will persuade you that you are
among impeccably well mannered people. People who live on a tragically
overcrowded island need to respect each other's privacy or rather, would need
to in the event that they had any privacy. Be that as it may, they don't. So
courtesy has a double function: it is kindness and it is substitute privacy.
Take, for example, The Little red phones in the roads, shops, corridors of
hotels. The instrument is arranged on a table or on a counter they have no
extra space to speak of for booths. You direct your most secret deals, your
personal love-quarrels openly; yet in amazing privacy. Anyone, any bystander,
could listen in, however no one does. A man's phone recipient is his palace.
25) Why Roof tore the ballet paper while casting his vote
and was still relieved? Explain.
Ans: We get a clear picture of Rufus as a
manipulator when he accepts five pounds from the election manager of POP. He
ensures that they won't reveal the news of his accepting the cash. He also
attempts to keep his soul clear by letting them know that he works for Marcus;
while putting his ballot paper into the box, he cunningly figures out how to
make his choice for both Marcus and Maduka, without drawing in the anger of
'iyi'. That is the reason Roof tore the ballet paper while making his choice
and was as yet feeling better.
26) In what different ways, does the cycle empower rural
women, as brought in, where There Is A Wheel'?
Ans: Cycle
areas of strength for has gains, no doubt. Yet, more than anything, cycling
gave these rural ladies their own freedom and strength. Presently the ladies
didn't need to depend for the men. They might even cart provisions from
different puts all alone. They felt that all ladies should master cycling, for
it would enable them with education and versatility. More than the financial
perspective, cycling provided them with the identity and self-respect. The
ladies ride bicycle for the independence and goodness. To P. Sainath, the
unassuming vehicle gave off an impression of a metaphor for freedom. For those
rural ladies, 'it's a Himalayan achievement, such as flying a plane.'
III. Answer the following in about 200 words:
27) Both Romeo and Juliet employ images in their
expression of appreciation and admiration for each other. Elaborate.
Ans: The
two verses in the poem, one by Romeo and the other by Juliet, feature the power
of love for the young lovers. This power of love is brought out by utilizing
the differentiating imagery of night and day, black and white, bright jewel and
a dark surface, snowy bird, and so forth. Really talking, the words 'bright'
and 'night' show up in Romeo's praise of Juliet's brightness when he sees her
for the first time in the feast of Lord Capulet. Romeo utilizes the expression
'snowy dove' to refer to and to recognize Juliet from different ladies in the
room. Romeo utilizes the word 'crows' to refer to other ladies in the room.
Besides, Romeo contrasts Juliet's brightness and 'a rich jewel' hanging
upon the cheek of an Ethiope's ear. Romeo utilizes these words to feature her
beauty. It additionally represents the close to home power that he shows
towards Juliet. Similarly, Juliet involves the expression 'day in the night and
'more white than new snow on a raven's back' to refer to Romeo. Also, she
utilizes the words 'stars in the night sky' to refer to Romeo. In a real sense
talking, both the meetings among Romeo and Juliet happen around evening time.
Furthermore, their meeting must be a strictly confidential mystery due to the
'enmity' and the 'hostility' that exists between the two opponent families the
Montagues and the Capulets. Moreover, 'When I shall die' and 'cut him out in
little stars', and 'heaven' are articulations that plainly refer to death and
immortality.

A poet’s task is to discover metaphors. How does Borges
explain this in “Books will Never Disappear”?
Ans: Borges calls poetry as the aesthetic act. He
thinks that the poetic act happens when the poet composes it and when the
reader reads it. Right now, Alifano says that finding the exact words is vital
in the art of poetry since the exact words evoke the emotion. Such exact words
exist normally as metaphors. As per Borges, true metaphors have been in
presence since long before recorded history. Then he says that every one of the
current metaphors can be grouped under five or six essential metaphors, like
time and a river, life and dreams, death and sleep, stars and eyes, and flowers
and women. Be that as it may, the poet needs to find metaphors however they may
as of now exist.
OR
“Cycling became a social movement in Pudukottai District”.
Explain it with reference to the lesson”; “Where There is A Wheel”.
Ans: 'Cycling' empowers ladies according to
different viewpoints. It gives them 'confidence' which comes about in view of
acting normally dependent and permitted to finish their commitments and duties
without depending upon the men individuals. For example, womenfolk can bring
water from even the remotest source and truck plans in isolation. Consequently,
cycling frees womenfolk intellectually. Cycling furthermore draws in women
strategically and financially. Cycling upholds their compensation. A part of
the ones who sell rural or different items inside a get-together of villages
can save a great deal of time by going to such puts on their bikes.
Also,
it offers them significantly more an ideal chance to focus in on selling their
produce. It widens the region they can hope to cover. Finally, in case they
choose to capitalize on their unwinding, cycling provides them with a lot of
entertainment as well. These women, other than playing out these positions, can
in like manner perform various tasks. Finally, to top everything, it gives them
confidence. They can moreover check out political work.
