Ans: Admiral Benbow was an inn in a small bay in the West of England and

Ans: Billy, an old seaman was the guest who took up a room in Admiral
Benbow.
3) What was his cherished possession?
Ans: An old sea chest was his cherished possession.

Ans: He gave Jim four pence because to keep an eye on any sailor who
came to the inn.

Ans: On a fine day a seafaring man came to inn and started to argue with
Billy and soon they fought furiously. The stranger wounded him and escaped from
that place leaving Billy on to the floor exhausted and was gasping for breath
after him.

Ans: The black spot was a pirate summons which would be issued to Billy
by the notorious Captain Flint’s crew.

Ans: Jim and his mother took just enough coins that Billy owed as rent
for staying at her inn and Jim took a bundle of papers rolled in oilcloth.

Ans: It was a treasure map showing where Captain Flint had buried his
booty.

Ans: The squire Trelawney went to Bristol, where he bought a fine
schooner called the Hispaniola and hired a Captain for the ship. The ship’s
cook was Long John Silver, a one legged sailor, who helped the Squire to hired
the crew.

Ans: The two Captain Flints in the story were, first one was old pirate
who hidden the booty and the other one was the parrot owned by Long John

Ans: Long John Silver was nicknamed Barbecue because he acted as the
cook.

Ans: Captain Smollett was unhappy because he had had no hand in choosing

for booty.

Ans: Ben Gunn was pirate, who had been on Captain Flint’s ship when
treasure was being buried. His shipmates left him marooned on the island when
they returned in search of booty.

island?
Ans: Ben Gunn was left marooned on the island when he returned to island
when Ben had returned by another ship three years late to find the treasure,
but they couldn’t find it and his shipmates left him there.
22) Why did Capt. Smollett and others
consider the stockade an ideal place for them?
Ans: They thought that the stockade was as good as any other to make a
stand against the pirates. So, Capt. Smollett and others considered the
stockade an ideal place for them.
23) What was Sliver’s demand for a truce?
What was Capt. Smollett’s response?
Ans: Long John Silver offered to spare their lives if they gave him the
treasure map. But Cap. Smollett refused to do so and said that the pirate’s
word couldn’t be trusted at all.

Ans: The pirates and the defenders fought rigorously. Pirates managed to
captive stockade. The defenders rushed outside and fought hand to hand. Some
pirates were killed and two of the defenders too died. At last Capt. Smollett
was wounded by the pirates.

Ans: Jim was surprised when he returned to the stockade. Long John
Silver and other pirates had taken away the treasure map and the doctor had
accepted defeat.

Ans: The two examples of Jim’s acts of bravery were: Jim cut the ship’s
mooring ropes and set it adrift so that the pirates could not get back. Jim was
attacked by a pirate and he managed to aim his pistol and shoot his attacker
dead even though he was wounded.

Ans: If Capt. Smollett would promise to be lenient with him then he was
willing to surrender.
28) Why did the pirates serve the black spot
on Silver?
Ans: The pirates served the black spot on Silver because the pirates
were very angry after losing so many men and being marooned.
29) Why had the doctor given the pirates the
stockade and the treasure map?
Ans: The doctor had given the pirates the stockade and the treasure map
because he realized that Ben Gunn had already found the treasure and taken it
to his cave, he also saw that the ship had vanished.
30) Why did the pirates accuse Silver and Jim
of treachery?
Ans: The pirates accused Silver and Jim of treachery because they did
not find the treasure and the place was dug up and someone had removed the
treasure.
31) Why did the captain want to sail to the
Spanish Americas?
Ans: They were shorthanded of men and they needed to take on more men
from there. So, the captain wanted to sail to the Spanish Americas.
32) What did Silver do at the end?
Ans: Long John Silver managed to flee away from the ship taking with him
400 coins at the end.
